Lisa Fancher's original copy of Yes LA

The title was a take-off on the seminal No Wave compilation album released a year earlier, No New York, and the Dangerhouse kids even went so far as to include the disclaimer “Not produced by Brian Eno” on the record.  The original was limited to 2,000 copies, every one screened by hand and packaged in a clear bag with a white cardboard backing (read about them here, here and here).  Frontier (with the help of the meticulous Cliff and company at The Factory) has taken great pains to reproduce every detail of the original, from the ink to the bag and cardboard, right down to custom-cut mylar seals for the flap (check out these photos of the “making of”).  Still, there are a couple of difference, but we’ll let you discover them for yourself.

Three O’Clock’s Baroque Hoedown EP from 1982.  We recently found a box of these in storage!  No idea exactly when they were pressed, but the jackets are old enough not to have a bar code.  They’re in mint condition in the original shrinkwrap.  Black vinyl only.  Five songs including “With a Cantaloupe Girlfriend” and “I Go Wild.”  We don’t have any plans to repress them, so get yours while they last!

A few months ago, we announced that a second pressing of the remastered “parchment” version of Christian Death’s Only Theatre of Pain was in the works, and that the first pressing with its free 7″ single was in short supply.  The latter is still true (so if you don’t have a copy of the first pressing, get it now), but the former statement must be amended.  We ordered a second pressing.  We waited three months for it (blame Record Store Day).  We finally got ‘em back in stock and oops! they’re not quite what we had in mind.  Instead of the parchment jacket, the vinyl showed up in the old black and gold.  The insert, LP labels and music (on white slab) are all from the parchment version.  It is the parchment version.  Except that it’s not.  Because it has a black and gold jacket.  Is Discogs paying attention?  Are you paying attention?  Do you want one? They are a mistake and will never happen again.  Collectible enough for you?

To avoid confusion, if you want the first pressing, select Violet – First Pressing With Ltd 7″.  If you want one of the super-rare mistakes, select White Vinyl/Black Jacket – Hybrid Mistake Pressing Without 7″.
